Data analytics company Astronomer is facing intense scrutiny after CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot were caught in an awkward moment on the kiss cam during a Coldplay concert on July 16 at Gillette Stadium, Massachusetts. The clip, which has since gone viral, shows Byron quickly moving out of frame and Cabot turning away when the camera zoomed in on them — all while Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin jokingly remarked, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.”
Byron, who is reportedly married to another woman, has not publicly responded to the incident, nor has Cabot or Astronomer. However, internet sleuths noticed that Astronomer has since removed its official announcement of Cabot’s hiring from its website and LinkedIn. The now-deleted post had praised Cabot’s leadership and people strategy experience.
Founded in 2018 and headquartered in New York, Astronomer has been a rising star in the tech space. The company is valued at $1 billion and is known for its Astro platform, which leverages Apache Airflow to streamline data workflows and support AI-driven decision-making across sectors like finance, gaming, healthcare, and manufacturing.
The scandal raises new questions about internal culture and leadership at one of tech’s fastest-growing startups. With no official statements from those involved, speculation continues to mount about the nature of Byron and Cabot’s relationship — and the company’s next move.
