Electric truck manufacturer Harbinger has announced a major milestone with the completion of a $160 million Series C funding round, alongside an initial order from FedEx for its medium-duty electric vehicles. The financing was co-led by FedEx, THOR Industries, and Capricorn Investment Group’s Technology Impact Fund, marking a strong vote of confidence in Harbinger’s vision for electrifying commercial fleets.

Founded in 2021, the California-based company specializes in designing and manufacturing chassis for electric commercial and specialty vehicles. Its proprietary electric vehicle stripped chassis integrates all major systems in-house, enabling cost efficiency and competitive pricing that rivals traditional diesel models. Harbinger’s platform supports a wide range of medium-duty body types, including walk-in vans, recreational vehicles, and box trucks, positioning the company to serve diverse fleet needs.

This latest investment follows a $100 million Series B round earlier in the year, bringing Harbinger’s total funding to $358 million. The strong backing underscores investor confidence in the company’s clean-sheet approach to medium-duty EVs, which emphasizes optimized fleet performance, affordability, and operational resilience.

FedEx’s initial order includes 53 Class 5 and Class 6 electric vehicles, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2025. The move aligns with FedEx’s broader sustainability strategy, which targets carbon-neutral operations by 2040 and a complete transition of its parcel pickup and delivery fleet to zero-emission vehicles. The partnership highlights the growing demand for scalable electric solutions in the logistics sector, where performance, safety, and cost efficiency are critical.

Industry observers view Harbinger’s progress as a signal that medium-duty electric trucks are shifting from small-scale demonstrations to mass adoption. With strong investor support and a major customer commitment, Harbinger is positioned to play a leading role in accelerating the electrification of commercial transportation.
