Siemens and Airbus have announced a new strategic partnership to drive the decarbonization of Airbus’ major industrial sites in the U.S. and U.K., marking a significant step in the aircraft manufacturer’s broader sustainability ambitions. The collaboration aims to reduce Airbus’ operational environmental footprint through major cuts in CO₂ emissions and energy consumption, with a target of abating 80 kilotonnes of CO₂e annually by 2030.

Under the framework agreement, Siemens’ Buildings business will lead the initiative, deploying its scalable decarbonization solutions tailored to each site. Supported by Capgemini, the project will combine expertise in sustainability, digitalization, and energy management to deliver measurable impact. Siemens will design comprehensive decarbonization masterplans for the selected facilities, integrating smart energy technologies such as heat pumps, energy efficiency upgrades, smart metering systems, and on-site renewable energy solutions.

To optimize decision-making, Siemens will use Energy System Twins to simulate and identify the most effective decarbonization roadmaps. These combined efforts will help Airbus achieve a 20% reduction in energy consumption and an 85% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, compared to 2015 levels.

Capgemini will contribute to the program’s first phase, focusing on consulting, governance, and digital energy monitoring systems. The roadmap development began in summer 2025, with infrastructure rollout planned for 2026. Siemens may also operate and maintain the new systems to ensure long-term performance and resilience.

Building on a partnership spanning over 50 years, this initiative strengthens the Siemens-Airbus alliance—advancing shared goals of innovation, sustainability, and industrial transformation toward a low-carbon future.
